Like his mom and brother Tjabo (Antoine, who lives up north in Luleå) Gusten grew up to be an excellent hunter of not only toys. He goes out when it’s not cold.

I was not too surprised to hear that he even tried to sneak on a roe deer! The deer noticed him and left, but Gusten continued to follow the deer in the hunting fashion! I’ve seen Jossan do the same thing with a group of five roe deer and it is so funny! Cats are about 50 times smaller than deer. I think that cats are aware of their and their prey size, but instincts are still so strong – a prey is a prey, and cats are predators.

There are some pictures of Gusten playing with a real mouse and also catching a bird, but I won’t post them here, for the faint of heart (as I am. Our cats do not bring me presents anymore. Although Leroy and Miii can cach in the best case an insect. But Maven and Jossan… that is another story. Albert does not go out. If he did, he would probably be the first cat to actually catch a deer!)

Albert lives in our Christmas tree! The white squirrel, that is what he thinks he is.

Agneta woke up early one morning. She heard noise that at first she thought came from the walls.

Was it mice, she wondered. No, it was Bea, standing very high, doing stuff! Agneta grabbed the mobile that was standing next to her bed and took pictures of the little explorer. After the last picture was taken, Bea fell down in her human’s bed. I thought to share the pictures here. Thank you so much for the photo, Agneta!

That is my pink backpack that Albert dragged and left on the floor. Also, there is a mouse that he previously ‘drowned’ in a water bowl (notice how my backpack is wet close to the mouse), and then ‘tied’ it behind the handle. It looked like a ritual killing committed by a psychopath!

Albert drowns toys in the water bowls and then leaves them in the food bowls and similar regularly, but this was a bit more advanced piece of work!

Albert is still playing like when he was small. He is nervous occasionally, because he is fertile, but he has a wonderful temper that didn’t vanish in spite of his raging hormones. We will probably neuter Albert soon, and then he will stop thinking about ladies and only play and be content.

They did not starting eating other food yet. We tried, but they want only Jossan’s milk. They like to jump into whatever I give them on a plate and make a mess. That is fun.

We noticed that his rat toys (that in fact are IKEA children toys) were sometimes all wet when we would come back from job. Weird, we thought. Sometimes they were wet AND covered in sand from the litter box. Yuck! Jocke joked that Albert must be drowning the rats, then buries them.

One day I found the huge rat toy on the edge of one of the water bowls. “Was he too big to be drowned?”, we joked with the little white killer.

And then today I caught him in flagrante! Albert IS indeed drowning the rats!!!

The cats love Ullisen. No one of our cats is a wool-chewer, but it must be something in wool that tastes really good, since they love to play with it. Even Jossan plays with it sometimes (and she does not play with toys since she became fertile, 2,5 years ago, she is like, so above it…). But, Ullisen is really a Leroy’s toy. Although Albert thinks they should share. But, Leroy does not share toys. Oh, no.

P.S. I bought Ullisen on Tradera (Swedish ebay, sort of), but the lady that makes ullisar also has a site here.

This picture of Miii and Albert posing in front of the Christmas tree won the 3rd prize (shared) on the Siames i Fokus Christmas 2010 competition and our prize arrived in the mailbox two days ago! Three yummy furry mice toys! (Thank you Nilla!)

Albert apparently thought that he and Miii were the ones who deserved the prize the most, since they posed for the picture, and went eagerly for the mice, but Leroy thought that such an opinion was ridiculous. He tossed two of the mice under the sofa immediately and then started playing with the third one. Alone!

Although cats are not all crazy to chew on the things that are poisonous for them, our Albert is still very young and likes to chew on whatever. So, we lifted amaryllis high on the book shelf where it’s supposed to live until Jelena’s mother takes it with her (Jelena’s parents are visiting and her mom, a dog person who never owned a cat, only dogs, bought an amaryllis plant).

Albert saw the flower and of course it looked yummy and the little long cat tried to reach it:

I’ve tried real tree, plastic tree, hoping he will leave something alone, but, nope – he likes it all, nothing is safe and everything is tasty.

Every morning the poor Christmas tree is disintegrated and the ornaments lie all over the living room.

The worst was when he just discovered the beauty of everything that goes with Christmas.  Now, two weeks later, Albert is a bit less creative with his constant rearrangements of our living space, but still not uncreative enough, to put it that way…

Albert celebrated his first six months of life by dragging extra many things from the upper to the bottom floor. He probably thought THAT is why he got petted a little bit extra today, so he kept on working on earning some more praises!

Sung weighs 4 gk now, Tjabo (Antoine) 3,8-3,9kg and Gusten 3,4kg! Big kittens! Alfred got his first snowball as a present from the little girl he lives with and talked a lot while sitting next to it in the bath tub.

“Mauuu mau mauuuu”, the first we hear the rebel yell from the bathroom, and then we find Albert proudly standing on the towel he wrestled down and killed for good.

Remember these two pictures (taken 2,5 and 1,5 years ago; Leroy and then Leroy and Jossan)? Well, now their little grandchild/child does the same.

And then I took Albert out of the box which we closed again and put under another box that he cannot break into (or so we believe…).

Our apartment is a mess, because we started to pack recently. We are moving next week. It will be so good to live in a house!

Ada and Alfred moved together to Linköping, where they will live with one little girl and her mom. Alfred chose his matte when she visited the kittens and the little girl wanted Ada even before they met. I think that Ada and Alfred are a very good match, to live together, personality-wise. Also, they are very loved by their matte and her little daughter.

Alfred is very talkative (Antoine is the most talkative, but Alfred’s vocabulary was the most impressive one) and gentle, but also quite active (although I do not know who was not active, all seven kittens were very active and social from the start).

Ada was always so brave and curious and first with everything. A bit naughty, but so sweet. And the way she would look at you would make anyone melt. She and Archimedes (Albert a little as well) have the most amazing way to make an eye contact and simply hypnotize a person.

Funnily enough, I think that the other four have the better eye shape, according to the Siamese standard, since they are more almond-shaped. But, I notice on Albert that his eyes are getting much more almond-shaped than they used to be. It is exciting to see them grow and change.

On their way to their new home, 2 hours in the car, Alfred cried without stopping. But, upon arrival it did not take them a long time to make themselves feel at home. And, as you can see, they continued to develop their gardening skills that they started here.

Antoine is on his way to Luleå now (about 800km from here, traveling by car). His matte called us twice today and we know how the little one is doing.

He is our most talkative kitten, and I guess that there is a lot to talk about on such a long trip… they are spending the night at a family friend’s place and will arrive to Luleå tomorrow. Antoine is researching the car and his room (including the curtains) thoroughly and it is going quite well for him. It was very hard to separate from Antoine and there are five more kittens to leave! The feelings are mixed.

We are very proud of our little furry ‘babies’ and hope that they will live many healthy and happy years with their new families.

Our kittens got names after famous scientists whose first names start with ‘A’: Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist; Archimedes of Syracuse, a Greek mathematician, physicist and astronomer; Albert Einstein, a theoretical physicist, philosopher and author; Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, a writer and the world’s first computer programmer; Augustin-Louis Cauchy, a French mathematician; Alfred Bernhard Nobel, a Swedish chemist, engineer and innovator and Antoine Lavoisier,  a French chemist.

We are happy with the new homes the kittens will be going to. Beside nice humans who will adore them, all of them will have a cat friend there.

Archimedes will live with Misty, a (now) 10 months old Cornish Rex; Alessandro will move in with Skeletor, a mixed breed with a behavior of an Oriental cat; Ada and Alfred will move together to their new home; Augustine will move to a new home where he will live with 5 years old Elora, and Antoine will move in with another Siamese guy, almost 4 years old Frasse. Albert will probably stay with us.

Here is a few pictures taken yesterday. Antoine and Alessandro were too fast to be caught on camera!

The kittens turned 5 weeks today, and we weighed them and took their individual photos. Have a look at a few pictures that are very cute/funny, but did not make it to the best of (because there were so many good ones)…

These two were sniffing the floor. Walnut wood, now that is weird!

Grandfather Leroy was curious, excited and a bit scared from the day one, but now when the kittens started crawling around he really likes to jump in the play-pen to lick and watch them.

He even went into the tipi when Jossan left them for a minute and licked the ones who slept there.

We were very cautious with Leroy being around the kittens, since he is male (although neutered), and the small ones took away his Jossan from him, but he is behaving well so far, and we are always close when he is with them.

He was a very good father when Jossan was small and brought her up, so we guess he will be a good grandfather also. Only, when Jossan arrived, she was three months old. These kittens are small and very fragile.

Still, he is very careful around them and when they attack him in huge numbers, he moves to another place.

The brave blue girl, always the first to try new things, started climbing on the tipi yesterday, and Jocke was fast to capture it on camera:

And what happened then? Well, the little one did not know what to do and how to get down from the top of the tipi, so Jelena took it down.

Last Friday we got a surprise package from Danijela!

Oooh, how happy we got when we discovered tons and tons of some of Jelena’s favorite candy in the bag!

The cats were helping tremendously. They love to organize stuff, though we often have different opinions on what “to organize” means.

The mouse tastes good. It is crunchy and sturdy and it can be chewed for hours without deterioration of that initial feeling of satisfaction. I do not understand why you keep on choosing paper instead; my newspaper, for example, every morning, always the very page I am reading. Yes, I did chew on your mouse and I did try the paper, I am not just saying! The mouse is much better, and I stand firmly behind that statement; I am actually willing to take a lie detector test if you do not believe me. Yes, we may have different preferences, but I can read and you can’t, so, please, let me read my newspaper in peace and go and chew on your mouse, or – learn how to read and then we can discuss this issue again.

Siamese are very slim and muscular cats, of medium weight and great lenghts. Still, some of them do get a bit overweight if they do not get enough exercise. Well, Miii’s days as being overweight are over!

I filmed one of their wrestling episodes a few days ago. It is a bit hard to catch them with a camera being ready… it is much easier taking shots of flowers.

Miii (Angel) is the darker one, the blue point Siamese. At the end of the clip, you can notice Jossan, a little white spectator watching from a cat transport cage that was temporarily on the floor. Jossan likes to watch our other cats play, and sometimes she joins them, sometimes not.

At least once every day one can hear a rebel yell from our bathroom, from Leroy, a very special one, that we translate to “The towel must die”.

Leroy yells loudly as he jumps up on the edge of the bath tub and starts wrestling with a towel hanging on the towel drier.

Leroy usually wins in his wrestling match, which results in the towel falling on his head and dragging him into the bath tub. A bit more wrestling, and our little winner emerges out of under the towel, happy and satisfied.

“Mau mau mauuuuuuuu, come and see me, I won!”

Jossan does not really wrestle, but she likes to join Leroy after the fight is done and pretend she won as well.
