This is a very long post about Albert’s first exhibition.

Blahblah

Albert understands that most things do not just happen randomly. He sees that we sometimes get what he wants and do it, so he is trying to teach us more complex communication.

It is not easy. We are not that clever and we do not always understand what he wants. We keep on trying!

Miii is cute

I captured Miii being cuddly. She is a big Siamese, but she is not fat. I cannot believe how chubby Miii looks when she lies on her back! She looks like a pillow. The most charming pillow ever!

Mrrrr.

Mmmrrr?

Mrrrr!

Mrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

And then we cuddled! 🙂

Miii has longer and thicker fur now, since it is winter. Siamese cats do not shed much at all. Maven sheds ten times more than all four Siamese together.

I warmly recommend Furminator  (Swedish link: our Furminator I bought here, maybe there is a cheeper one somewhere), that helped us a lot with keeping the most of Maven hair from our furniture and clothes. Siamese like to be brushed with Furminator as well, but there is almost no hair to get from them, only a little bit during few weeks twice a year, when they change between winter and summer fur.

Leroy likes cabbage

Leroy is a funny cat. He is crazy about white cabbage. When he sees one, he meows and stretches with his front paws on my legs and asks and demands a piece of it! I googled and found that white cabbage is not bad for cats (and most cats do not care about it at all) so he gets it once in a while.

He is so happy when he gets it, he likes it more than his favorite cat candy! Archimedes (Ash), his grandson, is crazy about melons and Leroy likes them too, but he does not get them, because of all the sugar they contain.

Our other cats do not understand Leroy’s excitement about the cabbage. They tried and keep on trying to chew on it, but – nothing! They just do not like it.

Albert does not understand! Why does grandpa think that cabbage is tasty?

Jossan actually hit Leroy today on the head lightly with her paw after she tried a piece of cabbage (again) and found (again) that it does not taste well!

She thought that Leroy is silly and was so upset that she had to hit him in order to demonstrate how frustrated she was. It was funny.

She does that seldom, since Leroy is her dad who brought her up and she is not really bossing him around, but she is still a queen, which makes her and her opinions very important in our little cat pride. Cats do not have ranks like dogs, they have different roles, that do include a bit of ranking, but it is more loose and different than in dog packs.

Jossan does not understand either.

B-litter 5 weeks

Here are some individual pictures taken two days ago.

The kittens are having long running sessions few times a day. It is funny to watch them running like crazy, while the big cats sit still and just observe the small spinning balls of fur. Sometimes the kittens run into things since they cannot stop!

Blue point girl, 5 weeks. "I am dangerous!"

"I am confused. And cute."

White boy, 5 weeks

"Look, I'm a lion. Mini or not, A LION! Respect my authorita!"

Seal point girl, 5 weeks

"I am pretty. And sweet. And first with everything."

White girl, 5 weeks

"Not in the mood for posing today! I always look gorgeous anyway."

My sun!

Albert loves to lie in the sun. There is plenty of space on the couch close to the window, on the floor, on the cat furniture…

But sometimes Albert wants all the 20 sqm of sunny spots for himself! Greedy Albert!

"Bad Miii! Go away from my sun! MY SUN!"

But, Miii is so cute! She deserves all the sunny spots in the world! Albert is still small and silly and has moments when he wants EVERYTHING for himself.

"Look at me! I am so cute!"

Albert had a date!

Did you know that in Norway they do not have only Norwegian Forest Cats, they also have beautiful Siamese!

Arwen (NO*Masked Bandits April in Paris)

Arwen (NO*Masked Bandits April in Paris), a beautiful blue point Siamese lady from Norway came to us over the weekend (she was here for about 30 hours) to visit Albert.

Both Albert and Arwen were inexperienced, but two important factors were just right:

1. Arwen is a very brave and at the same time gentle lady that did not let the voyage distress her too much and she did not totally despise the little almost 10 months old white Bebis who seemed to have a huge admiration for her. She was not too crazy about him, but she did not hate him.

"Jag tycker om dig!"..."Jeg liker deg ikke!" (photo by Janne Flusund)

Well, it could have been a better start, some would say. What about love at first site and all? But, for Albert that ‘not really hate’ was more than enough. So we come to the factor #2

2. Albert was very goal-driven since he was a kitten; while his siblings played and dragged toys around just to fall asleep exhausted next to their mommy, Albert killed toys paying a great attention to detail, for a long time, barking and growling at them like a little dog, not a cat; disintegrating them with precision and dedicataton you thought only Dexter had. He had the same approach with Arwen. Precision and dedication. Only, now it was about attraction, not killing.

Albert: "Precision and dedication"

Albert rolled like a girl, talked, sang, circled around the tough blue beauty, tried everything. She hissed a bit at him, showed a paw, ignored him, tried to stare him to death, but he just continued to sing… 6 hours later there was a familiar sound from their room you cannot mistake for anything else. An event!

Albert and Arwen continued dating during the night and the next day, completely exhausted towards the Sunday evening. Arwen and her matte had to fly back to Oslo, but it seemed that the love birds had the job done, so to say. Albert was so tired when Arwen left, he just lied on the couch and slept and slept… He played a bit with us this morning before we went to work and greeted us and played when we came home, but now he is sleeping again. He is back to being just a kitten, our all crazy 1st class stud of a great determination and not so bad skill (apparently). But now all he cares about is his toys and to cuddle with us. “Girls” – what is that? Give me my rats! Our little white guy is Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde impersonated in a cat.

It's been a hard day's night...

We keep our fingers crossed that Arwen stayed pregnant and that there will be some nice tempered beautiful Norwegian-Swedish Aceso Siamese in the near future! Arwen’s matte has a blogg here and her cattery name is Aceso. Also, check out this vidio of Arwen taken by her matte. Arwen is one smart cat!

The towel must die (part three)

We live with three generations of famous towel-killers.

“Mauuu mau mauuuu”, the first we hear the rebel yell from the bathroom, and then we find Albert proudly standing on the towel he wrestled down and killed for good.

Remember these two pictures (taken 2,5 and 1,5 years ago; Leroy and then Leroy and Jossan)? Well, now their little grandchild/child does the same. 🙂

Packing (or -‘helping paws’)

After every box we pack we have to make sure that no cat somehow jumped in and tried to hide. Cats like boxes. Albert is smaller and a bit hard to notice. Here, we documented how at one occasion Jossan helped us find him and, also, tried to pull him out of the box he managed to break into!

“I see you!” (Jossan managed to locate Albert)

“Mau mau mauuu” (“Get out!”)

“Mrauauauauuauuu” (“I am getting him out! Look, matte!”)

And then I took Albert out of the box which we closed again and put under another box that he cannot break into (or so we believe…).

Mrauuuuu Mrauuuuu

Jossan is in heat again! Only two weeks after she was in heat previously.

Either she did not get pregnant or she is one of those queens who get into heat even while pregnant… yes, there are such.

Whichever is the case, I can not sleep. Mrauuuuu. I recorded a part of her call. Unfortunately my equipment is not so good (K810i, a Sony Ericsson mobile phone), but you can get an idea how it feels…

\”I love the world\” by Josephine Brown, a Siamese cat in heat

Yes, like that, non stop.

Voice change

Siamese cats are famous for being vocal. Well, ours surely are.

Even Maven (who is mixed race) talks a lot with us, not less than the other three cats, although she can not produce all the fruequences Siamese can.

When Angel came to us, she “talked” in a very thin, high pitched voice, like her mom does. But now she has changed her meow into an intense, mighty roar, very similar to her sister’s and father’s. The influence of the group she is in now.

And now she wants to go out. MAAAUUUUUU
