June 2017

You never know who will leave first. All we have are assumptions and hopes for long life and health.
Our all cats here at home in Stockholm are well and alive, but some of dear people lost their beloved cats recently and I am very sad for them. But I was also happy to know how those cats were very much loved and had beautiful lives. ❤ We are thinking of you my dear ones ❤
Sorrow and grief are dark companions, and they are with us after loss because we loved someone dearly, making everything dark, but there is also so much love and beauty in the world, too. ❤

Behind the curtain – Jossan (in the princess bed) and Leroy (on the sheep) in the west window.

My love Jossan shows no symptoms of being ill at all. I give her her cancer slowing medicine every evening after food and she licks it like candy.
She has an excellent apetite and is as happy as usual. We had a lot of rain in Stockholm recently, but when it was warm and dry she followed me to our garden.

The cats also go to the balcony sometimes.

In two weeks we will have a vacation and spend it here at home with our cats for the most of time. Staycations are good, if we are lucky we will have a fine summer here, do the gardening and relax.

Lazy Sunday

A lazy Sunday afternoon, I am reading on the sofa, Jossan is under the blanket. This night and morning she was also under my blanket in the bed. My ❤

20170305_160125.jpg

She is feeling well and we hope for spring to come soon so that we can have walks in the garden together.
Next week on Wednesday, a cat dentist will pull out a tooth that seems to be bothering her (FORL). We got okay for that, since all her recent blood tests are good, the cancer is seemingly under control at the moment, and we of course do not want her to have a toothache! Fingers crossed on Wednesday that all goes well with our Queen.
A cat friend’s Siamese girl, with the same bad type of cancer as Jossan has, was put to sleep 10 days ago. 😥 It has spread and took over her lungs with metastases so she was tired and could not breath without problems. She was operated and was on the same medication as Jossan for a few months, which prolonged her life a bit. But then it could not be stopped anymore. So tragic. My heart goes out to my friend.
I hope we will have much more time with Jossan, but I do not think about that much, we chose not to grieve in advance. We take every day as a gift and are grateful for it. And we live in the present. Like cats do. ❤

Happy New Year!

We wish you all Happy New 2017! Much health to you and your dear ones, and peace. ❤

We celebrated Jossan’s and Miii’s ninth birthday on 27th of December, and we are grateful for Jossan’s good heath now and that our cats are with us.

Here is a card I made this year (the colours of some of the cats are not from our fur babies, but from a cats that belong to a friend of mine). 201612merryxmas1a1Also, here are two videos of our Leroy. The first one shows how clever he is when solving a puzzle level A for dogs (he can solve almost anything, that cat!)

And one video of Leroy kneading the blanket. Happy New Year and many hugs from us!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter and greetings from us and our cat family!

The spring is almost here (we had some snow last week in Stockholm). All the cats are healthy, and we hope that this year we will have some kittens during the summer. Nothing yet, but we have the plans. That will be so exciting, we did not have kittens since winter 2013/2014.

Jossan is eating some of the cat grass we grow for our furry friends in the flower pot, and then kindly poses for her yearly ‘cat with an Easter hat’ picture, with a half of one Easter egg-shaped metal candy box acting as a hat.

Happy Easter!

Cold summer

Cold and rainy. It is as warm as it was for Christmas last year in Stockholm. Warm or cold, depends how you look at it. We thought it was warm when it was Christmas.

Looking at pics I took 2 days ago, when we had sun for a couple of hours. The cats enjoyed it!

Jossan is the real Queen, as our fridge magnet says:

I love Jossan, she is my cat, very loving, always close to me. I feel that we have not only love, but also a deep understanding for each other.
Her daughters are as slim and slender as she is. Not as regal, but I think that they will be. Electra has mom’s contrasts and striking looks. They both have that special ‘something’.

Claire has inherited her mom’s amazing body. Eleonora is a beauty, very similar to Jossan, with better top and ears. Our beauties!
If all is okay, Eleonora will move to Norway this weekend. She has all the papers and today she was checked at the veterinary, we are only waiting for the results of the TF-test. The cats are all good in their tummies after the latest treatment with Tinidazole that we finished two weeks ago.

We will retest them all soon as well, but I sent Eleonoras sample today, still collecting all the others.

A painting of Jossan

I am done with a small painting of Jossan. I cannot take a good picture of it though; it looks better IRL, the dreaded orange heart is coral actually and everything is a bit different. I used a silver pigment on the painting which makes it hard to take a good photo of it, especially with flash (this picture is taken without flash).
I think it looks like Jossan. 🙂

Edited:

Here is a better photo of the painting, taken in the daylight. 🙂 The colors are more correct. The painting has more depth in reality.

And one more with Leroy, interested in my work. 🙂

Leroy

2012

Many things happened in our cats’ lives in 2012.

Albert was the cat of March month on siames i fokus, a mostly Swedish/Norwegian social site for Siamese and Oriental cats.

Albert (again) fell and fractured his breast bone on Easter which bothered him until late summer, when he was successfully operated. Now he has recovered and is jumping happily around as he did before the fall.

"It's mine!"

“♬ ♪ You ain’t nothin but a hound dog… ♬”

We managed to put a removable net on our balcony and furnish it so that the cats could safely enjoy the fresh air.

MavenBalcony2012

Leroy and Maven on the balcony and the net between them. No, this is not how it should be! 😦

Amazing mother and my beloved one-human-cat Jossan delivered six precious kittens (C-litter), who were raised and taken care of by the whole cat family for the first 3 months of their lives when five of them moved to their new permanent homes where they are very loved and taken care of.

JossanAutumn2012

Jossan, the queen of our castle

We kept Claire, a kitten cared for by all the other cats, a little clown that loves all the cats and humans equally.

Claire – I mostly care about mice!

Leroy had a lump in the skin (yes – ‘in’, not ‘under’, there is a difference, and his was more likely to be malign) removed in the summer. Luckily that turned out to be only a lipoma. So, basically, he got his first liposuction this year! (I am joking now, but poor him, we were so worried) He was x-rayed and all his blood values checked on the same occasion and he is a very healthy, now a 6 years old cat!

Maven took many walks with us outside in our neighborhood where we have very little traffic and many pretty houses to look (and sniff) at. She and Miii spent a substantial amount of time with us in the garden, helping us.

MavenAutumn2012

Maven, gardening

Leroy was (unjustly?) pronounced fat by his humans and exposed to various methods of torture. One of them, putting him on a special diet for overweight cats, made him go UP in weight even more! Well, that is over now. Buying a new toy (Da Bird) and wrestling with Claire seems to keep him in shape. In spite of what his humans think, he got ‘Excellent’ as condition mark from both judges on the exhibitions he attended.

Yes, the exhibitions – Leroy and Claire were exhibited and that went great. We might do it again some time.

The cats got a few new beds and furniture that they seem to like.

MiiiWinter2012

Miii – warm and cosy

Our cats were very much loved, played with and well fed during the whole year, as always. Sisters Jossan and Miii turned five years on December 27, and not only them but their two siblings from the same litter, also Leroy’s kittens – their handsome brother Gandhi that lives in Denmark and sister Noora that lives with one family in Stockholm. Happy birthday, dear cats!

Jossan and Miii spent their birthday lying close to and caring for their humans that fell ill with a bad influenza and were in fever for days (getting better as I write this). Our beautiful, beloved cats with big hearts whom we love so much, we wish you happy birthday and every other day! We are so happy to have all of you in our lives.

And to mark their fifth birthday – Miii was a model for our Christmas and Happy New Year card this year and I am working on a small painting of Jossan that will be finished when I feel better.

Miii – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I’ll post a picture of the painting of Jossan when it is done.

Much love and happy New Year from Jelena and Joakim with the cats. ♥

Merry Christmas!

MerryXmas2012a2

The cats, Joakim and I wish you a merry Christmas! I like to draw/make my own Christmas cards, and this one is a combination of the one I drew in real life, and then fixed it a bit in Gimp. I am not that good with image editing and photoshopping, but I am happy with the result.

This one is unedited. Look, our little White Squirrel is back! Albert is having fun in the Christmas tree. Every morning the branches are bending towards the floor, and some of the ornaments are missing. The fluffy ones (look at that heart! It is from Ikea :)) can be found here and there in the house, often in our bed. Presents! 🙂

The return of The White Squirrel

Winter in April

Yesterday we woke up surprised with 15 cm of snow outside! It was snowing and snowing. Today almost all of it melted. The spring is fighting its way to Stockholm, but this winter is not giving up easily!

Albert is better. I gave him the last dose of his medication last night and he does not seem to be in pain at all anymore. He is lively and a active as usual. He is not swollen in the chest area, and the bruising is gone. The bone is still protruding, but it feels a bit less. He is okay with me examining him and even pressing the bone slightly, but he does not like to be lifted (he was never crazy about it, but now it is even less okay than before). But he is jumping everywhere and does not sleep as much as when he was in pain.

We will go to Buba in a week or two and see what can be done, and if anything should be done at all. If he does not have pain, behaves as usual, can do everything as before, and runs no higher risk of another injury, we will probably not have him operated. That is how we reason now. We will see.

Here is Albert taking a nap next to his aunt Miii.

A few meters from them, Jossan and Leroy are resting.

Does Jossan look a bit chubby to you?

Jossan, 35 days to go, getting a bit rounder

She is not chubby! She is pregnant and slowly gaining some weight. 🙂 We expect kittens around May 19, and the dad is the same as to A and B litters; it is Albert’s and his siblings’ dad Goofy. Everything is going well so far. Jossan is fine and in spite of Albert being in total center of attention last week, she still got a lot of love and time alone with me. All cats have their special places and time with us, no one gets neglected.

Last year I took a week off when Jossan got kittens, this year Jocke planned one week vacation in the second half of May, to help Jossan at start and be there all the time with her and the small ones. I’ll of course also be with her for the delivery.

Miii is cute

I captured Miii being cuddly. She is a big Siamese, but she is not fat. I cannot believe how chubby Miii looks when she lies on her back! She looks like a pillow. The most charming pillow ever!

Mrrrr.

Mmmrrr?

Mrrrr!

Mrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

And then we cuddled! 🙂

Miii has longer and thicker fur now, since it is winter. Siamese cats do not shed much at all. Maven sheds ten times more than all four Siamese together.

I warmly recommend Furminator  (Swedish link: our Furminator I bought here, maybe there is a cheeper one somewhere), that helped us a lot with keeping the most of Maven hair from our furniture and clothes. Siamese like to be brushed with Furminator as well, but there is almost no hair to get from them, only a little bit during few weeks twice a year, when they change between winter and summer fur.

Slimming tomorrow

Here is one of the presents Jocke and I got for Christmas. Since our cats are in a pretty good shape, it must be a subtle message to us… 😉 Jocke thinks his aunt wants him to start dieting.

Here it is, a cute kitchen linen towel (click to enlarge):

Merry Christmas!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! This year’s card is inspired with our White Squirrel’s activities. 🙂 I drew it on paper, scanned it, processed it a bit and added the text in Gimp.

Many warm hugs from us and the cats! 🙂

Snow!

Yesterday we finally got some snow in Stockholm that did not melt immediately. We are experiencing an unusually warm winter so far. The cats were mesmerized with snow (as always). We put the food for small birds in the lilac bushes and the cats like to watch them eat it.

First snow, December 2011

Hmmm, Maven is on the window on the other side of the living room. But, where is Albert?

The White Squirrel

Leroy turns five today!

Our beloved Leroy turns five today! He got extra cat candy today and also we brushed his teeth a little longer than usual (that is a present he did not want!) and we played a lot with him and the other cats. Now he is lying in my lap as I am writing this. He seems pretty pleased with the day so far.

Leroy is the reason we started breeding Siamese in the first place.  He was the coolest and the most charismatic cat we’ve ever seen. Social, never scared of anything, smart, emotional and loving. He took care of Jossan, Miii and all of Jossans kittens, he brought them up. He still takes care of the whole mini lions’ pride, checks if everyone is around and patrols the house regularly. He is our Siamese #1 in every sense.

This was the happiest day in Leroy’s life, when we (or – he) got Jossan:

Josephine, Leroys daughter, moves to us in March 2008. Leroy is 15 months old.

Mirror, mirror on the wall…

…who’s the fairest of them all?

Albert is so sweet and nice in temper, but I know he has a dark mind. How do I know? Just look at him! When he thinks that no one is watching, there he is, thinking about the next ritual murder of the pink pig!

"Give me all I demand, or the pig gets it!"

(picture taken by Daniel Brolund).

Goofy

Jossan’s kittens father, Goofy (S*Edo Créma de Luxe) took his Grand International Champion title earlier this autumn! Congratulations! 🙂
This week we’ve received a CD with his pictures from his ‘mom’ Sofie (she has a cat blog here). Thank you Sofie! 🙂

We thought that handsome Goofy deserved one small presentation here. Albert’s dad is 3 years old.

Jossan, October 2011

I look at Jossan in amazement every day. This little, slender cat that weighs 3kg and still looks like a kitten is mom of 11 big kittens. She is still my baby and looks the same as she did 3 years ago. She is turning 4 in December this year.

This is a picture of her in our corridor, taken by our friend Daniel Brolund. He took it really fast; he entered the house at the same moment as she exited the room. She was so surprised to see him coming in.

I like the reflex in the mirror that shows her perfect profile. She is so beautiful!

1st prize!

Last week we won the 1:st prize on Siameslinjens (our cat club) photo competition for our ‘Birdwatching’ picture! 42 photos were sent in, some of them very nice. I was so happy! It is one of those pictures I had to take very fast, in order to seize the moment when the cats were sitting so nicely in the window, equidistant, like little ornaments shaped as cats.

I had the light in the background, could not use the flash, did not have much time to focus, but it was a nice situation and a not so bad composition. The judge’s motivation for awarding the 1:st prize to this photo was “för sin utpräglade vardagssurrealism” (“for its striking surrealism of everyday life”).

We are very happy! 🙂

Beautiful Miii

Jocke took a good picture of Miii yesterday.

Miii is very clever and empathic. When I have pain she feels it and comes, lies next to me and comforts me with her purring.

She communicates with me a lot and is very loving in a similar way as Jossan is. Both of them are one person’s cats, and I, Jelena, am that person in our family. As I type this she rests next to my arm. Our beautiful blue cat. I love her so much. :*

Birdwatching

If it is not a naptime, it is suspiciously silent in the house, and not a single cat is beside us, we usually know where to find them.

We put a lot of bird feeders in the trees and on the poles around the house in places where we and cats can enjoy watching them. Birds come to eat during the daytime, more often when it is colder. Occasionally they sing and cats love to watch them. Miii and Maven call us sometimes, they have a special sound for ‘Look, a bird!’. It sounds like high-pitched barking, several fast barks in a row.

You were looking for us? The birds are having lunch!

Usually there are many more birds outside eating, but I managed to capture only one of them on picture. Or actually, two, but you can see only a little of the bird #2 on the other side of the bird feeder.

Birdie num num!
